John Frieda Frizz Ease Hydrating shampoo & conditioner review

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

Hellooo :)

A few weeks ago I was sent these products to review from Cherrie West on behalf of John Frieda. I was really pleased to accept these products as they're something I would be interested in purchasing myself. My hair does get quite frizzy when I leave it to dry naturally and I'm always looking for a good moisturising shampoo and conditioner so I was really looking forward to giving these a try.

I've been trialing these products for just over a month now so I feel like that's a good point for me to tell you my thoughts.

I would like to state that even though this product was sent to me I will be giving a 100% honest review and won't alter my thoughts in any way :)

The Shampoo
One thing that I really liked about the shampoo from the first use is how well it lathers. You don't need to use a lot of the product which means it will last for rather a long time. I'd say it's one of the best lathering shampoos I've ever used (and that is a bold statement). If you're someone who has a particularly greasy scalp I feel that this shampoo will be very cleansing. A greasy scalp isn't something that I suffer with so unfortunately I found the shampoo quite drying, I'm used to using gentler shampoos, however that's not to say it won't be great for you! It left my hair feeling slightly squeaky clean which I don't like, but if you need a shampoo that makes your hair feeling really clean then this is definitely a good one. I did find myself reaching for it when I'd been using more products and dry shampoo on my hair as it really feels cleansed once I use it.

The Conditioner
The conditioner I like a lot more. When I apply it to wet hair it feels really silky and moisturising. I can usually tell how moisturising a conditioner is from the moment I apply it to my hair. I'd say it's quite a heavy conditioner so I avoid my roots like the plague. I've found that I like this conditioner more when I use it with a different shampoo that's not so drying for me as I can only apply it to the ends of my hair with it being so rich.

I did see a noticeable difference to my frizz. When leaving my hair to dry naturally. There was definitely less frizz to my naturally curly hair so I will possibly use this shampoo & conditioner when I'm feeling like having a curly day.

I think in future I would be more likely to repurchase the conditioner and use it with a different shampoo. I have enjoyed using the conditioner and recommend it to those who need a heavier conditioner. The shampoo I think would be great for those with a greasier scalp who want a shampoo that deep cleans. I have most certainly found great qualities in this shampoo & conditioner and will not rule them out... Definitely keeping them on hand for curly hair days and a deep clean.

Also quite tempted to try some others from the John Frieda range so please let me know what others might be good for me with fine, dry hair that gets weighed down quite easily.

Hope you enjoy!

  4. I'm pretty choosy about my hair products because I have thick, curly hair that tends to get frizzy and dry. I received a travel sized sample of the Shielo Hydrate Shampoo, and was pleasantly surprised when I used it. It smells nice and left my hair soft . . . . my hair is more manageable as a result
