Since I've been rocking the bob/lob look, I've been experimenting with cute, simple ways of keeping my hair out my face for work and lazy days when applying heat is happily avoided. Julianne's messy braid is definitely going to be one that I use often as it's so quick and easy to do and I simply love imperfect hairstyles. If you're not an expert at braiding, I don't think it matters too much as the whole point of this braid is to be quite a messy - I didn't try too hard - look. I simply parted my hair further to one side than usual and began braiding down towards my ear. I clipped it in place with a pretty butterfly clip, but you could use normal hair grips or a clear bobble to keep it in place.

How do you style your bob/lob?

We all get it hammered into us on a regular basis, that Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. "It's fuel for your day!", "You should never skip breakfast!" are quotes I'm sure plenty of us have heard from parents and friends on some occasion. Well, I'm joining the parade!

Since the New Year I have banished foods that make me feel sluggish and bloated because quite frankly they give me about as much motivation to move as a snail. Not only that, I have reached that unforgivable age where your metabolism can no longer be bothered to fight to keep you thin and therefore only you can do something about it. We all know how that feels surely?

So here is an example of my more recent healthy start to the day...

I start off with a bowl of yummy porridge made with Almond Milk and Old fashioned rolled oats. I top this with plenty of frozen blueberries which are filled with antioxidants and a sliced banana for an energising potassium kick! Sometimes if I'm feeling a little naughty, I'll plop a (not so generous) blob of Nutella on there just to perk me up a bit. Porridge is great for breakfast as it will keep you feeling full until lunch and is packed with slow burning energy. 

To accompany my Porridge, I'll have a cup of Green Tea. Not the boring leafy kind which tastes a bit like earthy dirt, no no! I much prefer Green Tea with a bit of flavour such as these Lily's Favourites Epic Orange variety which are much tastier and fresh in the morning. And since we're on the topic of oranges, if I'm feeling a bit peckish after my porridge I'll add one into the mix to cure my sweet tooth. It's much better to eat an orange than it would be to drink a glass of fresh orange juice. Much less sugar, with the same great taste and all the fibre you miss out on with juice.

Sunday is more often than not quite a lazy day for me, as I'm sure it is for many of you. A day when makeup isn't an absolute necessity, so I relax on the timely application and choose a makeup routine that is quick, simple and rather subtle. Today I thought I'd share the products I've been reaching for on my lazy Sundays recently.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

An absolute cult concealer amongst beauty bloggers, and with good reason. This concealer is so easy to apply, the coverage is fantastic and it lasts long enough that I don't often need to reapply it throughout the day. I use the lightest shade in this concealer to highlight dark areas and imperfections. I find the consistency perfect for under eyes and also for any other areas that are in need of a little extra coverage. Once I've added this to the areas needed with either a beauty sponge or concealer brush, I blend it out with my real techniques buffing brush to give a natural look. I skip foundation quite a lot as I feel that this concealer gives me the coverage I need.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Contour Kit

I am absolutely loving this product recently. So much so that I have written a full review which you can check out here. It's not often I come across a palette and love each colour as much as the next. Usually it's a bonus to like two products within a palette but to love all three is impressive. The colours are suited to warm skin tones so it's perfect for me with it's lovely gold shimmer. Each product blends well and has pretty good staying power. As I've mentioned before, for £3.50 I really cannot say a bad word about this. It's perfect for lazy days or travelling as everything you need is in one palette. Love love love!

H&M Eyelash Curlers

Yes, my trusty eyelash curlers were £2.99. I own other variations of eyelash curlers that cost me considerably more, but to be honest I always come back to these. In my opinion they are an area of makeup application that you can certainly save on rather than splurge. I get the same outcome with these cheapies as I do with my more expensive ones, so it's a no brainer really isn't it?

Rimmel Exaggerate Auto Eye Define Eye Liner

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with these eyeliners. I own a couple of brown shades and the colours are absolutely perfect for me. This one is in copper bling, which is a lovely shimmery gold toned bronze colour. They apply so easily and smudge like a dream, however they do tend to transfer to my eyelids throughout the day and the staying power isn't all that impressive. This might have something to do with my lack of eyeshadow primer and I'll have to experiment with that, but for now the lovely colours certainly outweigh the staying power issues and these are so affordable at only £3.99 each. Bonus!

L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Excess

This is one of those mascaras that I bought, used once or twice and then it got buried amongst my sea of mascaras. Recently however I have rediscovered it and I am really enjoying using it. The volume it creates really is impressive and it looks natural and fluttery which is exactly what I want for a lazy day. I haven't experienced any clumping with this mascara so it builds well for a more dramatic effect if required. This mascara ticks a lot of boxes for me and that's why I've been reaching for it a lot more recently. L'oreal in general tend to be one of the more expensive options for drugstore mascaras however in my experience the quality is well worth those extra few pounds.

Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara

If you follow my Instagram and see my endless selfies you'll probably notice I don't do a great deal with my eyebrows. I am blessed with quite thick, dark eyebrows and to be honest I am happy with how they are without adding much product. That is why I use this Brow Mascara in transparent to simply brush my brows in to shape and keep them there more effectively. The brush on this brow mascara works perfectly to tame unruly brows and it is also available in different shades if you need that little extra colour to your brows.

So there we have it, this is my simple lazy Sunday makeup which seems to have become quite a routine lately. My Sunday's are often spent going for walks, reading, watching a good film and generally just relaxing in my comfiest clothes, so spending oodles of time applying makeup isn't a priority for me.

I know you haven't seen one of these posts for a while but I am so pleased that you can now. I go through phases of nibbling my nails, I have done since school. Usually when I'm bored or stressed. Keeping up to date with painting them keeps me from being tempted and so I managed to grow them to a good enough length to do exactly that. I'd love to say it was will power and determination, but my other half going ballistic with me every time he caught me nibbling played a rather large part.

Anyway, since I haven't painted them for a while, I didn't fancy anything too complicated and I've seen simple nails such as these all over Pinterest recently. The lighting really doesn't do the blue colour justice, it has a subtle shimmer to it which catches the light wonderfully. Unfortunately I have no specific colour name for you, as the product was a 17 polish from a set that I received a while back and none of them were name specific.

The tape is just a standard nail striping tape from eBay, similar to These at just 99p they are an absolute bargain, and I do like me some bargains. However, I do have trouble keeping the tape on after a couple of days, if anyone has any tips on preventing the edges from curling up I'd be very grateful. Washing my hair is a nightmare, my nails go in looking beautifully painted to perfection and come out looking like a 10 day old bodge job! Help! 

Staying power aside, I do like these simple nails. They're super quick to do but are still eye catching and easy to do for a night out or hot date!

Anyone who follows my Instagram will have noticed recently that my hair is changing colour more often than usual. Katie gets bored easily, and when Katie gets bored, she takes it out on her hair. I've gone from Pink to Purple and now to Blue and I love it, so much in fact that I'm considering going completely blonde so that I can take my boredom out on the whole of my hair rather than just the blonde bits.

First I wanted to briefly share how I created this look at home. I would like to mention that I am not by any means a hairdresser or expert. I have quite a lot of experience in colouring my hair and have been lucky along the way but this is just what works for me.

On the picture above, I used a mixture of two Bleach London products in the shades Blullini and Washed up mermaid. I mixed the two colours together in a mixing pot with a generous splodge of conditioner for good measure and also to tone the brightness down a little. I shampooed and towel dried my hair, parted it down the middle and began generously applying the mixture to the ends of my hair, working my way upwards a little as I went along. I used my fingers (which were covered with gloves I would like to point out) to add touches of colour to the babylights around my face and any other highlights I could spot. After I had finished applying all of the product I gently combed through my hair from the ends to give a more natural ombre effect to the colour..... and Voila! As these products don't contain any bleach and are rather nourishing for your hair, I'm not afraid to leave it on for a little longer than suggested. I left this colour on for almost an hour before rinsing, making sure my hair had been given plenty of time to soak up the bluey hues.

As you can see, using the Bleach London Products gave my hair a very subtle colour, which is fantastic if that's what you want and although I loved it, I wanted to go brighter! Which brings me to photo number two!

As my face might blatantly suggest, I was very happy with the outcome of the second colouring session. A lot brighter and in your face blue haha! To achieve this look, I used exactly the same method as above but using Organic & Mineral Extreme Colour in Turquoise which I purchased from my local Adel Wholesalers. Unfortunately Adel wholesalers are only accessible to registered hairdressers which my mum so happens to be so this colour might not be easy to get hold of but the results are absolutely fantastic. Again these products are Ammonia free and do no damage to hair but believe it or not, I only left this colour on for about 15/20 minutes and the results were outstanding.

Today I am reviewing a product that I've seen many a review of, so I am a bit late on the bandwagon with this one. However, I have been trialling this product for a couple of months, so I can give a good honest review.

The product is the Makeup Revolution London Ultra Sculpt and Contour Kit and I have this in the colour C01 for fairer skin.

First lets talk about the shade range. So as I mentioned above, I have the colour CO1 for fairer skin. There is an option to get C04 which is for darker skin tones but with there only being two options, the colour range is quite limited. I would also like to point out that these palettes have warm golden tones, which is fantastic for someone like myself with a warmer skin tone but less appealing to those with cooler skin tones.

The packaging is simple, sturdy and very acceptable considering this product is only £3.50. Yes, £3.50 isn't that amazing! A mirror inside the lid might have been practical for applying makeup on the move but it is also nice to be able to see the shades through the front upon buying the product. The shades themselves are perfect for me and as you can see each product is labelled so there is no muddling up which shade goes where, making this product perfect for contour beginners.

The bronzer is quite dark but it blends very well making it suitable for fairer skin tones. The colour is also easily buildable making it suitable for darker skin tones as well.

The highlighter is my perfect shade as it has a lovely shimmery gold tone to it. It compliments my skin tone well and I feel it accentuates the golden tones to my brown eyes. For cooler skin tones, this highlighter might be a bit too warm but if you're wanting a sun kissed glow then this product would be perfect for you.

Onto the blush, and what a lovely blush it is. I think this blush could be compared to the likes of Nars Super Orgasm in colour, as it has lovely warm rose, peach and gold tones to it. The staying power might not be the greatest but for £3.50 who can really complain? I don't tend to wear makeup for an entire day so for me it does the job perfectly.

I do have a few varieties of contour kits such as Sleek and Maybelline, however I am finding myself picking this one up more often than any other. The warm tones suit my skin perfectly, the colour selection is just what I want and I am therefore a very happy customer. 

This is the first product I have tried from the Makeup Revolution Collection but if first impressions are anything, I'll be going back for more. Can you recommend any of there lovely products?
