Hello peeps :-)
This week I've gone for the same design I used in my Baby Pink glitter nail post a couple of weeks ago because it went down so well.
Here are the products I used :)
Barry M Nail Pain- Mushroom
Avon Nail Experts- Pearl Shine Top Coat
Avon Nail Experts- 24k Gold Strength Base Coat
JR Beauty Nail Enamel- Gold Glitter
Hope you like.
This week the lovely Jemma from In The Name Of Beauty! tagged me in one of her posts which I thought I would follow up on as I quite enjoyed reading her answers.
It's pretty self explanatory really, I'l be answering a few questions about why I wear make-up.
So lets go.....
1. When did you begin loving makeup?
Actually only recently. The blogging community has had this influence on me. For a long time I never really wore make-up other than eye-liner, mascara and a bit of blusher as it often broke my skin out and made it look worse than it did to start with. But now I'm older & a lot wiser in terms of make-up so I like to experiment with new products & have discovered make-up that works for me :)
2. How do you feel without makeup?
Well like I'm sure any female would say, wearing make-up makes me feel a lot more self-confident. I often do go to the supermarket make-up free & it doesn't worry me too much but I'd never be brave enough to go to Uni or work without any on. This is nothing to do with me being fake/false or whatever some people might think, it's about how I feel without it. I'm not confident about my appearance to start with and if wearing make-up can make me like myself that little bit extra then why not? I don't cake myself in it I just use it to accentuate my features :)
3. What do you like about makeup?
I love that make-up can accentuate your best features. For example I have ridiculously dark eyes, without make-up they just look lost on my face, like two big black holes (think bride of chuckie) HAHA. Wearing the right colour eyeliner & mascara can really make them stand out & appear much more beautiful.
4. Three Holy Grail items?
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer (as every beauty blogger knows)
Benefit They're Real Mascara
Topshop Kohl Eyeliners
I could probably live with those 3 items alone if I had to :)
Now just as Jemma did I'll tag a few people who I'd like to see answer these questions & those will be a few of my favourite beauty bloggers. I would recommend you all to take a peek at their blogs because they're truly amazing!!

Hope you enjoy this post. Not 100% sure whether or not I like posting without any pictures so you may find I add some at a later date haha.
Hello People :)
This week I again wanted something quite simple that would match all my outfits. Since it's getting colder and more wintery it's the first time I've reached for darker colours. I'm not a fan of sticking to just one colour as it's a bit boring for me so I'm especially loving the ombre trend as you've probably noticed. I haven't seen many ombre effects done with black which is why I fancied experimenting it myself.
The results are that it went pretty well and i quite like it if i do say so myself :)
What do you think to them? Does it work?
Here are the polishes I used.
Avon Nail Experts- Gold Strength Base Coat
Sinful- Met Glow Top Coat (wholesalers only)
Rimmel- 60 seconds in Black Out
17- Shimmer Silver (out of a set so it doesn't have a name)
Cosmetic Sponge (to create the gradient effect)
Voila!
Let me know what you think in the comments :)
Hellooooo :)
It occurred to me the other day that since I started writing my blog I've never really introduced myself to my readers which is usually a good place to start isn't it? Since I'm not particularly great at talking about myself I've decided to do a quick introduction (better late than never i suppose) & then go onto my Bedroom Post. I thought this would be a nice way for me to introduce myself without having to talk about myself too much. A bedroom says a lot about a person I think. So lets hop to it!
My name is Katie as you've probably already discovered. I'm 22 years old and I am training to become a Dramatherapist on the MA Course at The University of Derby. I'm not a very 'pink' girly girl but I do love beauty products, hair, make-up, nails and collecting pretty things (which I'm sure you'll notice when you see my room pictures). I have a boyfriend/partner (whichever tickles your fancy) of approximately 3 and a half years (whose counting?). I have a BA Honours degree in Performance & Professional Practice and I have loved, singing, dancing & acting from quite a young age. Unfortunately I don't dance anymore as the cost was too much when I started university but I do still enjoy singing in my spare time. I have a YouTube channel with a few Song Covers if you want to have a peek. Click HERE!
I think thats about all I can think to say at the minute. Any questions I've unanswered please feel free to ask in the comments :)
Soooo... Onto my bedroom tour (the fun part).
I've had this door sign since I was about 10 when i had a Bubblegum Bods bedroom. Does anyone else remember the Bubblegum Bods?
As I mentioned earlier I love collecting pretty things such as Butterflies, Dragonflies, hanging hearts, candles, fairy lights, dream catchers, wind chimes (anything that catches my eye). In some peoples opinions it may look cluttered and a little excessive but to me it's perfect.
Sorry that the lighting isn't too great.
Sunflowers are my favourite flower & pretty I love to save things that have happy memories.
much the only flower I'll ever ask for.
A couple more of a my pretty hanging things <3
This is where the magic happens in a morning. Transforming me from a half-asleep, worse for wear looking snuggle princess to a presentable young lady :) I hope hehe! I am a bit of an organisation freak with my sticky labels and lists here there and everywhere, my friends often point this out to me and make fun (what are friends for ay?).
Feast your eyes on a few of my storage methods. Just keeps things looking a bit tidier if they're hidden away or stored in baskets don't you think? Although I would be lying if I told you my room was always this tidy. My mum will be very proud if she looks at this post :)
My book shelf is getting a bit ridiculous..... A friend of my partners family passes me books she's read but she passes them to me a lot faster then I can get through them. Some of them I've already read but I just can't part with them for some straaaange reason. Does anyone else suffer this?
So I think thats about it. I feel I've shared a little corner of my life with you that is my bedroom. I hope you've enjoyed this post, it's a bit different to what I usually write but as I've found with reading other peoples blogs, its nice to know a little bit about the star behind the making of it.
Hope you've enjoyed reading as much as I've enjoyed writing :)
Hello people :)
I went to see the amazing Newton Faulkner last night at York Barbican (what a lovely venue by the way) and i really thoroughly enjoyed myself. I didn't feel the need to dress up too much as his gigs are quite small and none dressy. Also i was standing so i didn't want to be uncomfortable.
Here is the outfit i opted for....
I'll start from the top...
Long Feather Earrings (Bought these at a jewellery party which i think was called Kimunu)
Studded Shoulder Jumper- Primark (very recently) (also available in Khaki & Denim Blue)
Sleevless Long Skull Top- Zara
Long Length Leggings- River Island
Black Patent Dr Martens- Office
Small Bag- Primark
Nails- Ombre Silver/Black
Hair- I created these gentle beachy waves using Umberto Giannini Grunge Glamour Tousled Salt Spray (which i think smells lovely)
Thought I'd just share a sneaky peek photo from last nights events of the man himself :)
I was riiiiiiiight at the front. Eeeeeeeeek!! Amazing night!
As usual he appeared on stage with no shoes, odd stripy socks and his signature Ginger Dreads = What a man hehe
Hope you enjoy.
This week i fancied something simple but pretty and i think these baby pink glittery nails fit the bill perfectly. I'm not usually much of a pink person but i think that this shade is quite a subtle, neutral colour thats not 'too girly' for me. I teamed the pink with a Claire's accessories glitter to add a bit of sparkle.
Here are the products i have used on my nails & below are the links to purchase these items or just to have a better look at them :)
Sinful Nail Enamel- Met Glow Top Coat (wholesalers only)
Hope you enjoy.
Yayyyyy it's Sunday & the sun is shining. Today's the day I finally get to do pretty much nothing all day apart from blog, pamper myself and chillax. I plan to run myself a lovely jubbly bubbly bath, lay back and pamper myself with my favourite sunday saviours (maybe whilst watching an episode of something cheesy). So here goes with my favourites in the order which i will be using them.
Firstly I'm going to steam my face with a Lush Tea Tree Toner Tab.
"Tea Tree toner tab delivers tea tree oil to your face in a concentration that will be antibacterial without spoiling your skin's natural defences. Our toner water range is an attempt to deliver good quality essential oils to your face in the correct concentration.
They are not just toners, but are aromatherapy in dilution, ready to be used at a moments notice.
Most toners are preserved water with added astringent ingredients to act on the pores. Ours take a more gentle approach, which means that steaming the face is possible without any harsh ingredients present."
I love these little tabs, I think they're genius & work wonders when your skin is becoming congested. Literally just pop in a bowl of hot water, watch it fizz away, cover your head with a towel & feeeeeel the steeeeeam working its magic for approximately 10 minutes. Afterwards you can pour the water into a spray bottle & use it as a toner to spritz your face with for the next week (best kept in the fridge). That way all that lovely water doesn't feel like its being wasted. Voila!
Onto running my bath. One of my absolute favourites from Lush. This little gem smells absolutely divine & the reason I think I love it even more than natural is because it reminds me of the scent of a steam room in the Aqua Sana at Centre Parcs. Centre Parcs is probably my favourite place on earth so for a little product to take me back there for an hour or so whilst i soak is enough to make Katie very happyyyyyy. (Cheesy Grin)
"A sweet creamy candy-floss pink bath that's like a hug in a soft fluffy towel. This one is a girly night in. Makes you want to put on your cutest jambes, bounce on the bed and have a pillow fight. For those who know that youth and innocent glee are things never to be left behind"
This bubble bar leaves my skin supersoft with all of its moisturising ingredients such as cocoa butter & almond oil & I usually split this into 4 pieces to get better value for my £2.50 haha.
So whilst I'm in the bath I'll apply some Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Treatment. Now I don't think that it's necessary for me to ramble on too much about this because I presume every beauty addict in the world has tried it. Smells lovely, leaves hair soft & well conditioned & all for about £4. Can't go wrong really can you?
Next I apply some Soap & Glory, No clogs allowed! facemask which I LOVE. When I first bought this I noticed a difference in my skin from the first use & now it's something I use religiously every week without fail. As you massage it into your face it warms which feels lovely, like your pores are literally being opened and cleaned out. Mmmmmmmm. Does the trick for me. Doesn't dry my skin out or break me out, but definitely helps to clear away any nasty unwelcome visitors.
Last but certainly NOT least is my trusty Palmers Cocoa Butter. This is one of those products that I've never really admitted to it being my HG regardless of the fact that I ALWAYS have a bottle lying around. I don't think I ever really appreciate how good it is until I desperately need it & it fixes me straight away. Yes cocoa butter, you are my HG and I love you. I admit it! Besides the fact that it makes me smell good enough to eat, it really does soften your skin & is great I have found as an after sun. I often take one of these on holiday and it has never failed me yet!
So there we have it. I've let you in on a few of my Sunday favourites which I am going to thoroughly enjoy. And nowwwww, I'm off to eat my leftover chilli. Nom Nom :D
Hope you enjoyed.
Here are a few of my favourite things :)
I am yet to find a drugstore/high-street eyeliner which is as soft and easy to use as these little beauties hence the reason i have many colours :) I've even converted my mum to using them. The staying power is pretty good but i would advise you to use them with an eye primer as they can transfer to your eyelids. They come in a great range of colours and are very affordable.
My favourite skincare items which i have been using throughout september. From left to right.
The Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic is something i have had for a while but it has been pushed to the back of my drawers. Since seeing that Liz Earle brought out a version of this in a spray bottle i have re-invented mine and put it into a mini spray bottle bought from boots. Its great for a little extra moisture after cleansing or to freshen up your face throughout the day and it smells diviiiiine.
No7 Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser I am absolutely loving this cleanser. I really enjoy using hot cloth cleansers as they take of all my makeup so well (including waterproof mascara). This one is such good value as you get 200ml for £4.95 with a boots No7 voucher (bargain right?) It feels so soft on my skin and has left it with more of a matte appearance since using. Takes off all my makeup effortlessly and the pump bottle is brilliant as you will never waste a single dollop. This cleanser also states that it is for all skin types which i think is brilliant.
Lush Tea Tree Water I purchased this after seeing many bloggers mentioning it in their favourites and i don't regret it at all. At first i was using it as a setting spray over my makeup which worked fine but i've recently discovered it works better for me if i use on a cotton pad before applying makeup. It keeps my skin oil free throughout the day and instantly brightens my skin. It also seems to be controlling any breakouts and keeping my skin matte.
The Body Shop Pore Minimiser I was interested in buying a makeup primer to try as its something i've never included in my makeup routine. When i received an email from The Body Shop with a voucher code for 50% off i couldn't resist. I'm enjoying using this product & along with my Lush Tea Tree Water it helps keep my skin oil free all day.
Balmi-Raspberry I had been hunting in boots for what has felt like forever for one of these babies. I was torn between this and the EOS lip balms but was swayed towards this one with its natural ingredients. I absolutely LOVE IT (no exaggeration) Fixes my lips within a couple of days and it smells good enough to eat. I carry it with me everywhere and wonder how i ever lived without it.
Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara I have never in my life experienced a mascara with such staying power until i came across this. I was looking for a fibre mascara and discovered this when reading reviews on Make Up Alley (which by the way i am addicted to) so purchased one here on eBay. At first i found the consistency a bit thin and watery for my liking but after discovering it again a month later the consistency was much better. I find it goes on so well, doesn't clump at all & it literally WILL NOT budge all day. Lengthens my lashes perfectly and helps them to hold their curl. But be warned as amazing as this mascara is you will need a good eye make up remover to go with it.
Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment I wont go into too much detail about this other than the fact that i love it and it has saved my hair :) You can read my full review on this product here.
Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Intensive Mask This conditioner is so ridiculously soft that i literally almost slip over in the shower every time i use it. I find my self skating along the bottom of my bath HA. I only recently re-tried using Herbal Essences and i wonder why i ever ditched them. I use this mask every time i wash my hair since it needs that extra moisture and basically for the price you cannot go wrong! I doubt there is a hair mask in the same price bracket which would beat it in my eyes.
So there you have it, my favourite products of september. Have you tried any of these products and what did you think?
Hope you enjoyed.
